Financial companies competing to raise money for charity can have remarkable results – especially when the money goes to causes too ‘sensitive’ for the Japanese mainstream.
Business intelligence
The Financial Industry in Tokyo (FIT) For Charity raises money for Tokyo-based charities and NPOs through an annual run held at Tokyo’s National Stadium. Since 2006, the event has allowed Eat to work alongside a number of its clients in the financial industry to give something significant back to the community in which we live and work. In 2010 FIT brought together 6,700 participants from over 100 organisations to raise 68 million yen (over $800,000), with a pass-through rate of over 90%, for 10 local charities – specifically groups that through size or focus get overlooked by more traditional funding – refugees, child abuse and HIV to name but a few.
Project Overview
Eat acts as FIT’s brand guardian, generating all print and web collateral from T-shirts to advertising. We built and manage the group’s website, as well as the database that keeps track of the thousands of people involved. In 2009/2010 we chaired the communications committee. It’s one of the most satisfying things we do, so if you’re in the financial industry, get your company involved this year.
